The Cuddle Monster
A children’s book The Cuddle Monster is designed and written to help children with Anxiety issues but also a good story for children to read! This is the first in a series of stories, featuring Oxy and as the child grows up, so will Oxy. Alongside Oxy, there are other Monsters who have their own super-powers and over time, each one will feature in a story to help children face challenges that they might encounter along the way. Each super-power will be used to narrate a story to educate and support children.
Introducing ‘Oxy’ – The Cuddle Monster
“A monster woke up early one morning and rubbed its eyes. He was a bit cold and he was very surprised when he opened his eyes. He was wrapped in a blanket, in the middle of a path, in the middle of the woods. It was very, very early. As soon as he saw the thick, green woods around him, he just knew that he was alone. Lost. An Orphan. And yet, he couldn’t remember his Mum and Dad. He couldn’t remember if he had any brothers or sisters. He felt alone. He felt sad. But this Monster wasn’t scared. Although he felt alone, he didn’t feel frightened. There was a ‘flutter’ of butterflies floating around his head and one came very, very close indeed. It landed on his nose and made the Monster go cross-eyed. This was a very unusual and funny thing to see because this Monster has 3 eyes. The butterfly took off and as it did, the other butterflies, fluttered away alongside it and every now and again, they’d turn around and flutter their wings harder. It was as if to say ‘follow us’. The monster stood up, dusted itself off and picked up his little rucksack. Its rucksack was almost as big as he was as he is a baby Monster. He has bright orange, furry fur, 3 bright green eyes and long, long, fat, cuddly arms. In fact, his arms are made for cuddling it’s just that he doesn’t know it yet. His legs are spindly and long too, they help him to keep up with his favourite butterflies and let him look across the long grass to check that the coast is clear before he sets off on his adventures. Except he doesn’t really know what his adventures are. He has a good idea that there’s something amazing in store for him, he’s just got to figure out what.
